Bagels, step aside. Cream cheese is now being smeared atop tea. The concoction combines milk, cheese, whipping cream, salt and sugar to create a velvety topping for herbal brews. Hailing from Taiwan food stalls, the beverage gained popularity in China and can now be found stateside. Jenny Zheng of Los Angeles' Little Fluffy Head Cafe embraced the concept after trying it on a trip to her hometown in China. The tea connoisseur is making the recipe her own by using locally sourced cream cheese and Himalayan pink salt to give it a subtle, salty flavor. :it is such a good balance, as the whipped cream cheese cute the bitterness of the tea and creates a sweeter finish," says Zheng, who makes eight different cheese tea blends. The cups sport a special lid, making for the perfect ratio of cheese to tea.
